MY SETTINGS

The first step was creating a blank .psd file and adding all my images to it. I kept the size of my page the same as my cover and kept the resolution of the picture to 300 so that it was easily visible

IMAGE WORK

The second step was deciding the layout and placing the images. Just like before i first created guidelines for my work however due to being extrmely confused about my layout i forgot to capture it. However that was the point i duplicated my images to work on them

PROCESS

After duplicating the next step was to liquify the picture. Applying the liquify picture in the filter column seemed like a relatively easy and fun job.

MY BRUSH

This was quite easily one of the most difficult tasks out of this whole project. I created paths with the pen tool in shape of mirror shards. I masked them to make a shape. Then saved it as a brush preset.

Masking

The las t step waas adding a layer mask to each liquified picture. And i had to make the layer mask black so the whit brush preset could work on it

Experienc

Overall i have to say out of all the media work that i have done p till now this was easily the hardest. It took me TWO days to get a hang of it!

Creating my cover

During production the framing of the picture was such that the hands themselves were slightly to the left. To ensure that the cover remained aesthetically pleasing I rotated the picture to frame the hands in the middle. All of this was done adobe photoshop

stamp tool.PNG

I used the stamp tool from adobe photoshop , to cover the spaces that became blank

ligtroom work.PNG

Before using the picture in phtoshop i edited in adobe lightroom , increasing the exposure lowering the contrast to nullify some of the affect of an exreme exposure of sun and to create some depth in the picture

Final Cover .jpg
size and res.PNG

To work with my magazine dimensions the dimensions of the cover kept the same. i chose to work in RGB mode instead of CMYK as i was only publishing this digitally right now.

my urdu.PNG

I used an online urdu keyboard to write . literally the translation is 'freedom,my right'

blending options.PNG

to gain the red filter i worked in the blending option of the picture layer. I assigned the color overlay as deep red , and in th drop down multiplied it with the picture itself.

mockup for my cover

First Mockup

My Masthead falls on a very goop place in this picture. The headspace is small enough to make the subjects appear prominent. The main coverline frames the picture in a very nice way , allowing the picture to breathe and moving the eyes from the masthead to the sujbjects to the maincoverline.

Second Mockup

While i loved the idea of a large headspace initally during my planning , I realised i don't prefer it as much anymore. Though it contributes greatly to my narrative by making the subjets seem small , the framing just does not look aesthetic. The masthead lies alone in a huge headspace and the coverlines are interrupting the way eyes move on the cover.
