Deffered Reality ; A world
Passage of Production
The Journey and Location
the journey that transpired this day involved nothing less than exhaustion , craziness and an extremely astounding lack of time management. I had to bribe my friends with the promise of post-shoot food at a high end restaurant to get them to prticipate ( in that manner my friends don'y differ much from my food). A lot more people than originally panned ended up getting involved in this day. i left school at 2 pm on a monday on an uber whereas my friends whl studied in another private school had to sneak out of their school to come to my home. but of course , this being pakistan leaving school with an unidentified person was impossible so i had to call the office adminsitration and pretend to be my friend's mom ( i'm sorry this is getting long but i promise it gets interesting) then they end up leaving with none other than their own head boy and head girl who i must admit were far less appropriate in manner ( in a hilarious way ) than expected so ofcourse things took a sideway turn and i ended up reaching OPF housing society far later than i expectedd.
So now once we reached there we had to very careful not to shoot on priavte land in case we were kicked out ( we almost did and we almost were). Another thing that the location afforded us was privacy due to the reduced number of residents. However the area had wild and huge plants all over the place as well which led to some difficulty in shooting
Lighting and Equipment
The production space as you have very well seen by now was out doors and thus allowed us to have directional lighting that encompassed the entire area. An accident that became very fortunate for me was getting late , it allowed the dun to go lower and the clouds to cover the key light ( sun) it allowed the light to be diffused which made creating the depth of field in pictures easier. i brought my camera a nikon D7-00 with my zoom lens which varied from 18 mm to 105 mm and my firend ayaan accompanied me with his own canon camera with a 50 mm wide camera lens to allow me to take variable shots or make adjustments in the moment.
Different shots and camera angles
I went with a potrait oriented full shot for my cover. i kept the angle high, to fully achieve this affect i had to bring my own stool .
My 3 other secondary images were also portrait oriented. one of them was taken on the road and I hoped to take a prespective shot with leading lines to create a drastic affect. however to achieve this i had to take the picture from a low angle so i had my friend hold the camera aloft to reduce the chances of a blurry image
One of my images was extremely difficult , it involved lying down red craypaper for the models to lie on. this was extremely difficult because the craypaper kepy flying away. i hoped to achieve a high angle picture with just their faces however i have to say this was my worst shot it was extremely difficult to see the images i took because of the dirct sun.
One of my secondary images was done at a different location. it was done in my home at night , at 4 am to be precise with the main light being my lamp. however the bulb on my lamp was changed to a zero lamp as to make the lighting red. This was one of the easiest shots i took becase of the eae of location but also because i had a lot of time to fix my shots. The lamp was my fill light and key light. i had to make sure to maintain a lot of shadowss
Difficulties and Bloopers
One of the first difficulties I faced was finding a place that was not privately owned and where we could shoot without guards showing up. primarly we were shoot at a place that was privately owned and we had to move afterwards. I personally think the entire expeerience was made all the more difficult because i chose a very far away location and beyond that i had to collect a lot of people from a lot of different schools before going for the shoot.
Another massive problem was shooting in the sun. I did not anticipate it being difficult. it was extremely hard to fix the right depth of field , beyond that it was just hard to see the camera screen while shooting which made evrything else a moo point.
One of the anticipated problems was cutting up my basket ball prop. and it underwent hilarious scrutiny from everyone before it was anywhere ready to be used after that the only difficulty that remained was fitting onto Taimoor's head which proved even more difficult.
While I shot my secondary image which involved lying on the ground and taking pictures the overall experience proved more difficult than i had anticipated , the ribbons from the eyes were flying away , the camera was barely discernable and the framing of the shot was justa disaster for this reason.
One hilarious thing that happened by my friends senior class fellows accompanying them was that as a result of them having noting to do they too to quite literally dancing in the streets.
