Starting off I just want to make clear originally I have about 30-40 rejected shots. Most very similar in nature to the ones I am going to show you right here , with most having the same recurrent problems ; shaking camera ( the shots looked too handheld ), grainy footage , Bad ISO calculation which led to either an over exposed video or a low quality video or sometimes both.
Just a small disclaimer about my pitiful excuse here ; If I knew everything I know now my work could / would have been even better than what I created now but sigh circle of life right.
I will now be showing some of the rejected posts that I thought I should be showing so you can get a sense of how the other rejected posts looked like
To say the least overall the shot was not good enough make it. It just didn't deliver that punch I required , while it had good focus which was a hard make for a lot of my shots due to the ancient nature of my camera. But due to not only the shakiness of the camera in this shot but also the lack of anything visually attractive in the motion just made sure that this shot could not make the cut. Also i do believe if the motion was smoother and there was a better frame this shot could have delivered something beautiful but for now I think this was something I could not use

I found this shot hauntingly beautiful , the only reason it came into the rejection pile was due to me finding other shots to be more fitting with the ongoing narrative and flow of the music video. The video had four minutes worth of a timeline and i could not congest it with a lot of shots of the tulips. So this shot did not make the cut regardless of the fact that the overall colour palette and sickly stillness in the shot will always have a piece of my heart

The mirror shots were for an unknown reason the most difficult to capture. Out of all of the ones I have (7-8?) this one was the one I loved the most , and viewing it post production quite literally broke my heart in the beginning the lack of Farzam's reflection in the mirror ( trust me there was a lot ) , along with the clarity of the capture and lighting it was everything I had planned and dreamed of , and then Farzam pulled away ( THE CAMERA WAS ON AUTO?????) , the settings changed to accommodate the change and *ba* *dham* my dreams shattered alongside the shot that was drastically over exposed.

Another heartbreak. I liked this shot so much , the tone , the gray palette and the the morose mise-en-scene was something out of my dreams. Coupled with the heartbreaking screams by khudija made me want to use this as much as a bee wants to make honey. But this had been taken right at the end of our 4 day shoot , everyone was thrumming with the need to leave , and downright exhaustion. The error had been on my part , in my planning I had written down that I needed to put khudija in media wrappings for this shot , and it contributed well to my idea and concept and apparently that was more important to me.My one man army has slightly disappointed me. ( questioning my decisions)

Finally a shot I am sure i could not have used under any circumstance. The frame was all wrong , it did not seem like a cohesive part of the other shots for the tulips. More than that the kitchen background was increasingly visible throughout the video which was another factory besides the very visible syringe i used to drip red ink on the flowers. The shot was experimental in nature and that was very visible in the framing lighting and mise en scene of the entirety of the video.

This video definitely is very obvious in it's reason for its rejection ; the over exposure and bad placement of the light by yours truly. The clip till 00:14 the video was out of focus , but gained deep focus from that point onwards , however the frame was tilted and unbalanced due to the visible outer walls at intervals. ( hey it is so not easy holding a camera that weighs like at least 4-5 kgs straight all the time)

Everything about this shot can easily be hated. The movement? I could not guess it it even if I tried truly. The shot was supposed to be a handheld movement that first panned slowly over khudija's body then slowly moved backwards to reveal the location and a wider shot. It could easily have been replaced by an action cut that involved a pan than a wide shot ,truly I have no explanation for this.
Overall mistakes like this were observed a lot in my work but I can say I left the experience having learnt a lot more than I knew before. More than that while I did try to spot mistakes like this while we were shooting I only noticed a lot of it after.
