To start off since i am doing the project for my Media A2 music video without a group and the artist i chose produced a solo song I too went along with the idea of creating the artist for my music promotions package as a solo artist.
When it came to naming my artist I faced the same sort of excitement and hence problems that i faced during my song selection. There just too many possibilities , I was suffocating under the weight, and then I decided to narrow my approach and follow up on artists in the Indie-rock scene and see what my heart took a liking to. With this i discovered i wanted my artist to be solo without using his own name , for examples St Vincent , Florence + the machines , Marina and the diamonds. All these artists used plural names to behold their stage presence and forgoed any sensical name with an ordinary first and last name.
Settling on the name Angora Anarchy for my artist was of no small significance and wasted no small amount of time ( but a very large amount). Angora in reality is a breed of rabbit that stands out from the rest of the rabbit breeds due to its large amount of fur that rivals at times sheep. With their similarity to sheep and their outre folk behaviour amongst rabbit i found them as the perfect fit for my artist name and Anarchy in itself seems pretty self explanatory. Paired together , the docile nature of the rabbit and itss rebellion of fur with Anarchy came as the perfect couple.
Alongside the name with my urge to go over and beyond in things NO ONE ever asked me to go up and beyond in i went ahead and made a logo for the artist name and established a star image component alongside it, Taking inspiration from bands like band like Foster the people and Red hot chilli peppers. ( making it was no easy feat i used after effects and almost nearly died of dehydration after crying because it just wouldn't work , but then with some help from youtube and some very long sessions of staring at my screen numbly i got it done!)
Then came the next part. Deciding my album name. For the simple reason that I knew what my music already sounded like and I had a fluid concept of my music video this part was not as hard as the rest of it. While i did once again go through multiple options with this one as well I landed relatively ( the others took me 2 days comparatively 3 hours does seem quick ) much quicker on the name "Tulips in a cup". It made the perfect sense due to my concept and ideology of being stuck in roles that don't allow you to be yourself or perhaps demand you to be metaphorically more or less than who you are as a person.
Some clips and pictures of the joy (read:torture) i endured
-yes i started off with a cheesy caption like dare to dream
